- The title is a blend of two words, necrophilia and romantic, referring to the Variant's action.
- In actual usage, necromantic is the adjectival form of "necromancy", a word which refers to the act of using the spirits of the dead as a means to obtain prophecies. The prefix "necro-" refers to death, while the suffix "-mancy" refers to divination.
